Miriam College's Living Museum was initially based on "Miriam College Tree Inventory and Digital Mapping Project (2011)." The project was a digital mapping research work on 30 native Philippine trees and plants found inside the Quezon City campus of Miriam College. It aimed to inform  the broader community of the importance of promoting living museums and encourage conservation and appreciation of biodiversity.

The main project activities inclluded taking snapshots of the existing trees and plotting the existing trees onto Google Maps. Narratives from the scientific and historical perspectives were incorporated in the particular trees covered.
